Based in Fife, Scotland, Damien Carpenter has spent his time absorbing the natural landscapes from his hometown of Newburgh and now in his current location of Dundee, a lot of time has been recently spent embracing the waters and connecting with nature through skimming stones across the river Tay. A comfort has been derived from these stones to create a strong bond between his practices and regulating mental health. This repetitive action has drawn an acute attention to detail that translate towards his collections of work as he spends time here documenting his life and practices hand in hand, modifying and referencing the sensations each stone reveal.

Damien is an emerging silversmith specialising in red-listed trades intertwined traditional Japanese crafts, his work achieved standard of exhibition twice within Dundee’s Victoria & Albert Museum and various smaller venues in the area before the end of his university career. This dedication to the crafts awarded a final year scholarship by the South square trust to endorse his developing skill and unorthodox experimentation into precious materials alongside the Hammerman award to supply his required tooling for his developing methods.
